Sketching in the french alps - July 2018

Jesse Woodward Is a landscape artist working in traditional oil painting techniques from Buckfastleigh, Devon. Having grown up on the fringe of Dartmoor national park, he has used landscape painting as a means to share his love of the outdoors since a young age.

Working predominately in oils and drawing heavily on romanticism, his work takes much inspiration from the likes of Turner and Constable - while assimilating more expressive, contemporary techniques. Jesse's work takes on two main strands; real landscapes taken from the world around him, and abstracted pieces that seek to distil the emotion of these places without the shackles of reality.
