Sketching in the french alps - July 2018

Jesse Woodward Is a landscape artist working in traditional techniques from Buckfastleigh, Devon. Having grown up on the fringe of Dartmoor national park, he has used landscape painting as a means to share his love of the outdoors since a young age.

Working predominately in oils and drawing heavily on romanticism, his work takes much inspiration from the likes of Turner and Constable - while assimilating more expressive, contemporary techniques. Jesse's work takes on two main strands; real landscapes taken from the world around him, and abstracted pieces that seek to distil the emotion of these places without the shackles of reality.

Jesse has exhibited across the UK and has collections of work in the Bowie Gallery, Totnes and the io Gallery, Brighton.
